In Greece, IOM is focusing on responding to the Mediterranean migrant’s crisis, in support of the Greek Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. IOM currently implements interventions within the areas of emergency, preparedness and response, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, healthcare and psychosocial assistance, assisted voluntary return of migrants, migration and development, resettlement and repatriation, family reunification, counter human trafficking, assistance to vulnerable migrants.
In Cyprus, IOM Seat Agreement was ratified in Parliament in 2014 and in 2015 IOM inaugurated a fully functional office in the country. Complementing Government of the Republic of Cyprus policies, the IOM’s Cyprus Office runs targeted programmes on capacity building for children, on a voluntary solidarity mechanism and on assisted voluntary return and reintegration.

Context:
In the framework of the Solidarity Declaration agreed by European Union Member States (EUMS) and associated countries and in view of the Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism (VSM) which has been established from the five first-line Mediterranean countries for the relocation of asylum applicants towards EUMS and associated countries, IOM will be responsible for ensuring that beneficiaries are adequately prepared for and subsequently transferred on a voluntary basis to the Member State of IOM is committed to a diverse and inclusive environment. Relocation (MSR) in safety and dignity by also receiving comprehensive support throughout the entire process.
In view of the above-mentioned project and under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Head of Office in Cyprus the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for performing tasks under the portfolio of the voluntary relocation mechanism.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
1. Ensure security, order, and confidentiality of all interactions and transactions at all stages of movement processing as assigned.
2. Ensure that all operational procedures implemented are according to IOM standards, guidelines and operating procedures.
3. Make use of Business Applications for movements (MIMOSA). Communicate with other IOM Offices.
4. Ensure that the most direct and cost-effective routings are used according to IOM policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with IOM agreements with airline carriers. Follow up on IOM Global Agreements with airline carriers, as needed.
5. In coordination with the relevant Relocation Project Coordinator assist in the implementation of operational procedures for Relocation projects including, but not limited to, the following:
a) Liaise and cooperate with Cyprus Asylum Service and other national entities on predeparture phases;
b) Assist in the coordination of the Pre-Departure activities and coordination with Medical Service provider. Assist in the bookings and ticket issuances for staff travels, including for consultants and other personnel engaged by the Organization.
6. Assist in the preparation of all relevant documentation for movements/flights.
7. Assist with the pre-departure assistance which is being offered to the beneficiaries to ensure that all individuals are aware of the rules and regulations of the airlines.
8. Arrange assistance at the airport during boarding and/or transferring.
9. Assisting passengers travel through the airport and helping passengers to board.
10. Escort the beneficiaries of the action until the final destination.
11. Assist the beneficiaries of the action during the check-in or any further pre-departure procedure as required.
12. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
13. University degree from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
14. High school graduate with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills
• Minimum two years of related work experience in a humanitarian setting;
• Experience in coordinating protection activities and a good understanding of protection SOPs preferred;
• Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization preferred;
• Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;
• Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
• Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems;
• Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
Languages
Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral) is required.
