CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a CySEC and CBC regulated payment institution with offices in Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit an Accounting Officer to join their expanding team of professionals. Reporting to the CFO, you will work as part of an established finance department helping to ensure its smooth running and operation. You will ideally hold an academic background relating to Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or similar field and possess approximately 3+ years of previous accounting and bookkeeping experience. Excellent communication skills in both Greek and English are a must and any previous experience working with Payment Institutions, EMIs or Investment firms will be considered an advantage. Our client offers a competitive remuneration package for the successful applicant which includes Medical Insurance and a Provident Fund.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Processes payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements and statements.
- Enters, updates, and/or retrieves accounting data from automated systems.
- Posts financial data to appropriate accounts in an automated accounting system according to instructions.
- Reviews online transactions for changes and accuracy and corrects errors.
- Perform end of day procedures with the aim to reconcile the profit and position between the banking and the accounting system.
- Keep records of VAT and prepare quarterly VAT report.
- Prepares bank reconciliations on a timely manner.
- Liaise with the Banks on matters relating to the Company’s accounts.
- Preparation of required monthly, quarterly or half-yearly reporting to the regulators.
- File and archive documents related to the accounting function.
- Liaise with external auditors as required.
- Prepare and update expense schedule and review against the budget of the Company.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other relevant field.
- Approximately 3+ years of previous bookkeeping and accounting experience is a must.
- Highly numeric with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with Payment Institutions, EMIs or Investment firms will be considered an advantage.
- Experience with Sage will be considered an advantage.
- Fluency in Greek and English.
