CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, The Bank of Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Shipping Strategy & Operations to join their growing team based in Limassol. The successful applicant will form an integral part of the Bank’s Shipping Centre and a specialised team that deals with shipping clients, including the provision of shipping finance and ancillary services. You will ideally be educated to degree level in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Shipping related studies and possess approximately 10 years of previous experience in shipping finance, with specific experience in structuring and analysing ship finance transactions, including familiarity with Shipping Finance Policy and Shipping Finance Procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential and knowledge of the Greek language is desirable.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review, manage and amend/develop the Bank’s shipping business strategy.
• Lead the periodic review of the Shipping Policy and Shipping Finance Procedures.
• Establish procedures for efficient management and risk monitoring of the shipping portfolio.
• Lead and coordinate the loan documentation of ship-financings and review all legal documents.
• Coordinate orderly review and vessel insurance policies.
• Develop operational efficiencies for shipping transactions and promote cooperation with other departments of the bank.
• Identify and analyse key markets and areas of business development.

Key Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Accounting or shipping related studies.
• Master’s Degree and/or professional qualification in shipping or banking will be considered an advantage.
• Approximately 10 years’ experience in shipping finance.
• Experience in structuring and analysing ship-finance transactions, familiar with Shipping Finance Policy and Shipping Finance Procedures, aware of shipping market and recent developments.
• Familiar with LMA loan documentation.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills (verbal and writing). Knowledge of Greek language will be considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and ability to carry out multiple tasks under pressure and within short deadlines.
• Leadership skills and ability to take initiative and make decisions.
• Comfortable to communicate with senior management and external advisors.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
