CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established Group of Companies operating in the Construction & Real Estate sectors, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Accountant to join their growing team based in Larnaca. The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising and overseeing the accounting and finance function of the Group, which will include managing and mentoring less experienced accounting and bookkeeping professionals. You should be educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field and full members of a recognised accounting body are encouraged to apply (ACA, ACCA, CPA). Our client is seeking applicants who possess proven experience in a relevant position and any prior experience working in either the Construction, Real Estate or another related industry sector will be considered an advantage.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsibility to monitor the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
• Report to the Director.
• Handle accounting issues and identify/resolve problems.
• Supervise the accounting department staff and review their work.
• Assist members of the accounting department in execution of their duties.
• Responsibility of payroll preparation and execution.
• Prepare and review VAT returns.
• Identify and handle VAT related issues.
• Review debtors and creditors (agree balances, proceed with payments).
• Review and finalize accounting records for each year.
• Prepare final Trial Balance/Detailed Ledger to be provided to external auditors.
• Communicate with external auditors and provide the necessary information.
• Handle communication with the Tax Department.
• Handle communication with Banks.
• Prepare financial reports for the Director including budgets, project cost analysis and cash flow projections.

Key Skills/Experience:

• Ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other relevant field.
• Ideally a full member of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA etc..), although this is not essential.
• Previous, proven experience in a similar accounting role is essential.
• Previous experience working in the Construction, Real Estate or any other related sector is highly desirable.
• The ability and experienced to mentor, manage and support less experienced members of the accounting department.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and computerised accounting packages.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills in Greek & English.
