CORE JOB INFORMATION
Department : Front Office
Working hours : Full time – 40 hours per week – 5/6 days per week
Position reports to : Front Office Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager, Supervisor, Head Receptionist, Receptionist A/B
PROFILE
The Telephone Operator will receive and relay incoming and outgoing telephone calls using the Hotel switchboard system, for both guests and employees, including the possible scheduling and implement-tation of multi-party conference calls. In addition, the Telephone Operator will provide directory infor-mation to inquirers as appropriate; will collect, verify and enter Hotel directory information into the system as well as provide clerical support as required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Courteously answer and properly route incoming calls,
- Direct call to guest rooms, staff, or departments through the switchboard system,
- Place outgoing calls,
- Setup conference calls in different locations and time zones,
- Take down and relay messages,
- Log all wake-up call requests and performs wake-up call services,
- Provide information about Hotel services to guests,
- Provide paging services (if appropriate) for Hotel guests and employees,
- Know what action to take when an emergency call is required,
- Monitor automated systems including fire alarms and telephone equipment when the maintenance department is closed,
- Assist in reporting telephone equipment or service complaints and problems,
- Multitasking abilities will always come in handy, because a telephone operator may be asked to do other jobs for the front office department including administrative work,

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High school graduate or equivalent,
- Previous hotel-related experience is desired,
- Must speak, read, and write both English and Greek; knowledge of additional languages (Russian, etc) would be considered an advantage,
- Strong voice modulation abilities are essentials,
- Excellent general verbal and written communication skills,
- Skills in dealing diplomatically with the public under stressful conditions,
- Good computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office.
