We are looking to recruit a talented and creative engineer to work on the development of haptic technologies for Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) experiences, Assistive Technologies etc. You will be part of a dynamic start-up which focuses on projects that aim to positively affect the interaction between people and both physical and digital realms. You will become a member of the core team that will work on establishing sustainable growth and lead product development and commercialization. Throughout the project you will have the opportunity to be part of the evolution of a product from the laboratory to the market and interact with potential users through tests and focus groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for microcontrollers to interface with sensors, actuators, and haptic feedback systems.
• Design and implement embedded real-time audio signal processing.
• Produce algorithms to control haptic actuators, to produce vibratory signals.
• Integrate sensors and haptic technologies to create a realistic and immersive user experience.
• Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration with VR environments.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and optimize power management for extended battery life.
• Test and verify the algorithms/implementations and set up scripts to assist unit-testing and integration tests.
• Participate in the management, reporting, dissemination and commercialization aspects of the project through articles, conferences, meetings, presentations, etc.

Required Experience and Skills

• Education:BSc/MSc in Embedded Systems/Electrical engineering/Mechatronics or a relevant field.
• Mathematical/engineering skills with at least one course on signal processing or DSP
• Proficiency in microcontroller programming (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32, ESP32 development boards).
• Experience in microcontroller embedded C/C++ programming.
• Programming skills including software-hardware interfacing and control are necessary.

• Experience with integrating sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and flex sensors.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB).
• Experience with electronics design, PCB layout, and motor control systems is a plus.
• Previous experience in wearable device development is a plus.
• Familiarity with various haptic technologies, such as vibration motors, force feedback mechanisms, and tactile feedback actuators.
• Experience in designing and implementing haptic feedback systems is an advantage.
• Experience in Python for scientific/mathematical problem solving is a plus.

• Ability to accurately estimate software tasks and work to schedule, able to manage your own tasks.
• Good writing, communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
