The Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus announces one part-time (81.5 hours/month) Post-Doctoral position in the area of uncertain data, for the research purposes of Dr. Andreas Pieris. Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure, before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition.
The filling of the position is subject to the availability of funding.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Post-Doctoral Researcher is expected to conduct research on several aspects of data management, especially handling inconsistency in databases. He/she is also expected to work effectively with other researchers to produce high quality publications and demonstrations, and contribute to dissemination activities for the project, e.g., publishing papers in top conferences and journals, giving talks in conferences/workshops, and giving seminars at other institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science before the starting time of their employment.
Moreover, applicants are expected to have:
(i) A strong background in databases and theoretical computer science (particularly algorithms, complexity theory, and logic).
(i) Prior research experience within theoretical foundations of databases such as algorithms, complexity, automata, and logic.
(iii) Skills in systems aspects of databases.

RIGHTS/OBLIGATIONS
Postdoctoral researchers have the following rights and obligations:
(a) They have the right to work under safe and healthy conditions.
(b) They can use the equipment and the facilities of the University (according to the relevant Usage Rules).
(c) They will work under the supervision of the project coordinator, to whom they are accountable.
(d) There will be regular progress review meetings (every four months) on the post-doctoral researcher’s performance and the continuation of the contract is subject to satisfactory performance.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
The position is on a year contract basis. The monthly gross salary is equal to €1441,74. Employee contributions will be deducted from the above amount. The position does not include a 13th Salary bonus. The post is available from April 2024.
