CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding Research & Development company with offices in Limassol, we are seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. The successful applicant will assist with the preparation and recording of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses entries, as well as a variety of other accounting duties. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Accounting٫ Business Administration, or another closely related field, who possess approximately 3+ years' of experience in a relevant accounting role. Profound experience with typical accounting procedures and with general ledger functions, as well as the month-end/year-end close process is a must. Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS, along with general knowledge of the statutory obligations of Companies/Businesses and Tax Compliance aspects (Corporate Tax, Income Tax, VAT) will be considered an advantage. 

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting with the preparation and recording of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses entries.
  • Verify, allocate the purchasing and expenses invoices to the correct category, and prepare expenses reports.
  • Reconciliation of Debtors, Creditors.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure all necessary supporting documentation is provided to external Auditors/Accountants.
  • Reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist in the Month-End close process.
  • Assist in preparation/finalization of Monthly Trial Balances.
  • Assist in entering figures in Excel for the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts (Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow).
  • Take part and assist in forecasting.
  • Support the Finance Manager in following up and overseeing, ensuring that all obligatory statutory submissions and deadlines to the Authorities (such as tax returns, VAT returns where applicable, licenses, forms, payments) are fulfilled.
  • Prepare petty cash expenses reports and assist with the reconciliation with actual physical cash balance held in the office.
  • Other supporting administration tasks required by Finance Manager or other member of the Management team to support the accounting procedures.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • BSc in Accounting٫ Business Administration, or another relevant field.  
  • CAT (Certified Accounting Technician) or another relevant accounting certification is desirable.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in accounting is essential.
  • Profound experience with typical accounting procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office٫ especially Excel.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS.
  • Practical experience with accounting software packages.
  • General Knowledge of the Statutory obligations of Companies/Businesses and Tax Compliance aspects (Corporate Tax, Income Tax, VAT).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills٫ with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Pleasant personality, ability to work in a group and be self-motivated.
  • Commitment and proactiveness.
