VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SPECIAL SCIENTIST FOR TEACHING POSITION

The University of Cyprus will accept applications for the hiring of Special Scientist(s) for teaching at the Department of Architecture. The successful candidates are expected to commence duties in the Fall Semester 2024/2025 (05/09/2024-19/12/2024), with the possibility of renewal. Filling of positions will depend on the availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching of the online course Introduction to Social Innovation for the MA Design for Social Innovation (https://dsi.education/)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
For teaching postgraduate courses, a PhD in a related field is required. Teaching experience, especially in the same subject, as well as the candidates' research work, are considered very important qualifications.
A good knowledge of the English language is essential.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The hourly rate currently approved for undergraduate courses is at €68/hr for holders of a PhD degree and at €40/hr for holders of a master’s degree. Gross payment is made as follows:
€68 per hour x 3 teaching hours X 15 Weeks for the Fall Semester 2024/2025. From this amount, employee contributions to the Cyprus government funds will be deducted.
It is noted that employment is part-time and concerns 15 teaching weeks per semester, subject to the approval of funds and positions by the competent bodies of the University as well as the completion of the department's audiences.
Filling of positions is subject to the availability of funding.
In case an applicant is employed in the public or wider public sector of the Republic of Cyprus, s/he must obtain permission in advance to work at the University from the appropriate Department/Ministry, or wider public sector authority.
Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure, before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition.
Acceptance of this term must be also explicitly stated in the letter of application.

The University reserves the right to require that applicants provide certified copies of degrees from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth in cases where a degree was awarded from academic institutions in Cyprus or request confirmation of the equivalency of their degrees from the Cyprus Council of recognition of higher education qualifications (ΚΥSATS).
