Position reports to : General Manager, Head of Security


PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Security Officer will be responsible to protect and safeguard all guests (internal and external of the Hotel), their belongings and all Hotel properties, assets and grounds, in the most efficient and effective manner, through the effective development, management and leadership of the Hotel’ human resources, equipment and provisions; the Security Officer will also be pro-active in maintaining and/or improving department profitability in accordance with the Hotel policies, procedures and standards.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage all day-to-day Security operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards, coordinating resources to ensure that all possible issues are efficiently resolved,
  • Have a complete understanding of all Security operations, the entire property layout and the exact whereabouts and functioning of all equipment of an operational nature,
  • Ensure that their actions, duties and opening & closing duties, set ups, cleanings and other before, during and after preparations, are completed in accordance with the pre-set procedures,
  • Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service; interact with all guests and visitors; sense, identify and anticipate their needs; quickly respond to maximum satisfaction; seek/action/learn from feedback; develop/maintain the files of compiled guest preferences, and report upward and downward should a guest or visitor not be content with their experience,
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and ability in: the execution of all correct security standards, their required daily work, the etiquette while dealing with guests and people, ground and floor lay outs, the staff force of the Hotel, facilities, services, events and entire property and ground lay outs; monitor and strive for continuous improvement at all times,
  • Keep their workstation well organised and neat, report any issues to superiors,
  • Ensure compliance with all security standards and preventative measures; monitor and follows proper key control guidelines in loss prevention and in the property,
  • Assist in conducting investigations and compiling reports and records on a timely manner for any theft, loss, suspicious movements or any incidents related to the security of the Hotel,
  • Assist external government and law enforcement agencies, in the investigation and handling of security, crimes, incidents, etc. involving the Hotel, its employees and/or guests; be in direct touch with VIP/government guests and their private security personnel,
  • Assist in planning, delivering and facilitating regular staff awareness training as well as advising key personnel on security matters and procedures,
  • Patrol the entire property grounds, floors and boundary areas for the purpose of general security; watch for suspicious persons entering, exiting or loitering around the Hotel public or guest areas as well as unusual activities that would impair the wellbeing of guests and employees,
  • Manage other daily duties: ensure all Hotel employees are adhering to the established security procedures; record and notify all risks, deviations from security standards and any incidents; complete and track departmental security/incident reports, records and documents; ensure that all storerooms, stores and shops are locked when not in operation; ensure that all fridges are locked and functioning at the predetermined temperatures; complete the temperature chart for each and report any malfunction to Maintenance; ensure all lighting is working properly; carry out regular check on staff arriving and leaving the Hotel; ensure that emergency exits are always closed and in good working order; check all lifts in cases of emergency for anyone inside; check that all cars parked are in their designated places; control the traffic and parking whenever large events are held at the Hotel; notify the Doorman/Front Office when a guest arrive; maintain the monthly checklist for all CCTV equipment, alarmed doors and alarms to ensure that they are fully functional; be available for out-of-hours genuine emergencies within the property; assist in handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others; continuously make necessary improvements; help promote the Hotel, all with care and in accordance with the pre-set procedures,
  • Monitor all Security activities by actively participating in the operations and inspections, be vigilantly attentive to details, produce quality and standards,
  • Ensure that at all times the department and staff have adequate supplies of equipment, resources and provisions; ensure that new orders are in line with costs and business levels,
  • Ensure awareness of the department’ costs, identify reasons and take appropriate action,
  • Implement the Hotel’ sales, promotions and entertainment plan, and contribute to new ideas,
