The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus announces one (1) Special Scientist for Research (Researcher) position, focusing on CleanTech Ecosystem Business and Market Analysis, for full-time employment. The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of the FINEX project.

FINEX Project: The FINEX project builds on key innovation actors across the EU, driving the green and digital transition and pairing them with world-class cross-border Research & Innovation centres of excellence, who have been deploying experimentation testbed, living labs, sandboxes, and acceleration tools to turn leading research into market ready innovations. Furthermore, the project brings together leading partners form the Cleantech innovation ecosystem to create the ideal environment for innovative technological enterprises to establish and develop businesses and linking them to leading actors in local and national digital and cleantech technologies innovation ecosystems offering education, business support, research and networking programmes.

Who we are:
The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence is the largest research center at the University of Cyprus and in 2017 was upgraded to a European Research Center of Excellence through the KIOS CoE Teaming project. Currently, the Center employs more than 180 people who are supported by externally funded research and innovation projects. KIOS provides an inspiring environment for carrying out top level research and innovation in the area of Information and Communication Technologies, with emphasis on the Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructures. Such infrastructures include power and energy systems, water networks, transportation networks, telecommunication networks and emergency management and response. The Center instigates interdisciplinary interaction and promotes collaboration between industry, academia, and research organizations in high-tech areas of global importance.

Job Details
The successful candidate is expected to:
• Attend project meetings.
• Maintain general record keeping and documentation and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Communicate and promote FINEX services and activities to external stakeholders.
• Contribute to preparing reports and deliverables.
• Gather KIOS internal information regarding capabilities, resources, and best practices to support the formulation of FINEX experimentation and support tools.
• Assist in the CleanTech priority areas selection and validation through sectorial/innovation ecosystem mapping.
• Develop and deploy world-class experimentation spaces and pilots and establish experimentation frameworks for testing innovations.
• Support the project in attracting and accelerating CleanTech Innovators.
• Support the running of experimentation activities/services.
• Track individual projects/services progress and provide internal updates.
• Assist in overall project activities including communication and dissemination.
• Represent KIOS in FINEX networking events, workshops, promotion events etc.
• Undertake other relevant project tasks as they arise.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration or Project Management or Innovation and Entrepreneurship or other relevant field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in supporting the implementation of similar projects.
• Previous experience in providing Research or Innovation ecosystems support will be considered an advantage.
• Experience in delivering innovation (product, process, marketing, organizational) will be considered an advantage.

Employment Terms:
The position is on a contract basis. A two-year contract will be offered, with a 6-month probation period. The gross monthly salary depends on the candidate’s qualifications and experience and will be between €1650 – €2100. From this amount, employee contributions to the Cyprus government funds will be deducted. A 13th salary bonus is incorporated in the monthly salary. Maternity leave will be granted based on Maternity Protection Law 1997(Ν.100(Ι)/1997), and the existing amendment laws.

At least the best three candidates that satisfy the required qualifications will be interviewed by a 3-member Selection Committee. Candidates will be informed of the result of their application by the KIOS CoE.

Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure, before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period and submission of application implies acceptance of this condition.
