The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European Non-profit Science and Technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its four Research Centres: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of CyI invites applications from highly qualified and motivated individual with project management expertise to join the team as the “Scientific Coordinator” of the QUEST Project. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating and supporting the implementation of the EU funded ERA Chair QUEST (QUantum computing for Excellence in Science and Technology) project. This will include project related administrative matters, as well as engagement in the strategic development of the project portfolio and the research agenda of the research unit. The successful candidate is expected to drive the project implementation with minimal guidance.

The period of the appointment will be at the rank of “Senior Officer” for a fixed-term period until December 2027. An internationally competitive remuneration package will be offered, which is commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

  1. Project administration/coordination (financial reporting, deliverables, communication with funding organizations) for QUEST
  2. Identification of future funding opportunities
  3. Aiding in the development and writing of project proposals

Required Qualifications

  1. A Masters degree in Physics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, or any other relevant field
  2. 3-year of relevant experience
  3. Experience in project management and/or administration
  4. Excellent knowledge of oral and written English
  5. Previous experience in writing technical reports and proposals
  6. High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a multicultural/multinational environment
  7. Ability to multitask and change priorities with minimum supervision
  8. High level organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  9. Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  10. Experience in presenting to medium and large audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a research/academic institution
  • Previous experience in research
  • General knowledge of computational methods and Quantum Computing
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and software tools
  • Previous experience in proposal writing for competitive funding
