SPECIAL SCIENTIST RESEARCH POSITION

Location: University of Cyprus, Nicosia
The Department of French and European Studies, University of Cyprus, announces one part-time position:
Special Scientist (Internship in NLP/data science): 70 hours/month
The selected candidate will work as a Special Scientist (Computational Linguist/ data scientist) on the UCY internally funded project ACVALIN. The position also requires from the candidate to be able to travel for local meetings twice a month.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate is expected to be a highly motivated individual with proven capability to work in a demanding, multi-disciplinary research environment and eager to be actively engaged in the activities of the research project and collaborating efficiently with the ACVALIN project research team. Minimal requirements include:
1. Degree required: Master Student with Bachelor degree in computer science with expertise in machine learning (including deep learning) and data science. Expertise in NLP is recommended.
2. Expertise in Python programming.
3. Very good knowledge of the English and Greek language.
4. Knowledge of other languages would be a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work on collected data in research projects, SPSS databases, and on all related tasks to statistics/ topic modelling / sentiment analysis for the project ACVALIN which is under the Department of French and European studies.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS
The position is on a contract basis of six months according to the candidate availability. The monthly gross salary will come up to 909,88 according to qualifications and experience of the candidate. Employee contributions will be deducted from the monthly salary. The position does not include a 13th salary.
