CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, one of Cyprus’ most well established and respected Financial Services Consulting Groups, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. Reporting to the Group's Finance Director, the successfully applicant will be responsible for the full functioning of the accounting departments of UK and EU-regulated entities, supporting the operations team with ongoing accounting tasks, and particularly the preparation of month-end management accounts with emphasis on client assets and safeguarding. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, who possess at least 5 years of proven working experience in an accounting department carrying out similar functions. Membership of a professional accounting body, such as the ACA or ACCA is required as well as experience in Accounting/Audit of Regulated Entities under CySEC or CBC. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English are a must. Our client offers an attractive remuneration and benefits package based on skills and experience.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and information reports from data extracted from the accounting system and CRM.
- Prepare and process month end journals – such as depreciation, accruals, and prepayments.
- Monitor and maintain sales pipeline (to assist with sales forecasting) and monthly reconciliations to the accounting records.
- Monthly review of WIP to ensure and completeness and accuracy of monthly billing.
- Regular bank reconciliations.
- Client asset monitoring and reconciliations of EU and UK regulated entities.
- Client asset management and audits for EU and UK regulated entities.
- Debtor control – regular review of ledger with follow up of any overdue balances and agree actions with consultants.
- Review and maintaining the supplier ledger and regular reconciliation of supplier accounts.
- Assisting consulting staff with routine monthly invoicing.
- Assisting with adhoc accountancy / financial management tasks and projects as they arise.
- Assistance with annual audit in terms of preparation of schedules required for auditors.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant field.
- Full member of the ACA or ACCA is a must.
- At least 5 years of proven working experience in an accounting department carrying out similar duties.
- Experience in Accounting/Audit of Regulated Entities under CySEC or CBC.
- Knowledge of client assets safekeeping audits, and client asset management.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Multitasking individual with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent command of the English and Greek languages, both verbal and written.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
