The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the Institute’s Environmental Chemistry Lab (ECL) of the CARE-C Centre of Excellence on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at Athalassa Campus.
The successful candidate will contribute to the ARIADNE (AbsoRbIng Aerosols in the Eastern MeDiterraNEan) project recently selected for funding by the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation (RIF) under its “Excellence” call.
The Research Technical Assistant will be supporting the implementation of this project dedicated to the experimental characterization of the chemical composition and sources of the absorbing component of Particulate Matter (PM) using a large suite of off-line (filter-based) and on-line scientific instrumentation. More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and supporting chemical analyses of particulate matter, including carbonaceous species (organic and elemental carbon) and trace (metal) elements.
This role also involves preparing and analyzing aerosol filters, performing gravimetric measurements, data management, and assisting with the implementation of quality assurance analytical protocols and interlaboratory professional testing. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams at CARE-C will be an integral part of the role.
Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:
- Gravimetric analysis of aerosol filters
- Carbonaceous analysis of aerosol filters
- Elemental (trace metal) analysis of aerosol filters
- Conducting filter sampling
- Perform Quality Control / Quality Assurance of analyzed samples
Position Specific Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences
- Capacity to work independently following detailed analytical protocols

Duration of appointment:
The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 12 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
Remuneration details:
Salary Band: CYI2(1-13)]
Position’s Starting Salary: CYI2.1 - €24851.71
