CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a long-established company specializing in the Sports Betting industry, we are seeking to recruit a Risk Officer to join their growing team based in Nicosia. Reporting to the Head of Risk Operations, the successful applicant will primarily be responsible for ensuring the protection of the company against potential risks and minimising general exposure through monitoring and analysis. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or another related field, and possess approximately 2+ years of relevant experience in Risk. Proficiency with MS Excel is required, along with fluency in both verbal and written Greek and English. This role includes rotational shift patterns as follows: 08:00 – 16:00, 09:00 – 17:00, 10:00 – 18:00, 12:00 – 21:00, 15:00 – 23:00, 16:00 – 24:00, 17:00 – 01:00. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Checks and approves bets.
• Profiles Class A and Class B clients for risk management purposes, tags high-risk customers, and sets limits where necessary.
• Reviews and adapts customer limits in accordance with their betting activity.
• Handles queries and requests related to customer limits, classifications and tickets of certain limits.
• Monitors customer activities for identifying potential risk patterns and/or malicious behaviour and for taking appropriate action and risk mitigating measures.
• Determines fraudulent activity and acts according to agreed procedures with regards to transaction acceptance, account blocking and further checks.
• Investigates suspicious alerts (internal & external) with proper analysis and follow-up.
• Analyses reports to identify potential risk patterns and takes risk mitigating measures.
• Identifies sportsbook weaknesses through monitoring of customer activity and addresses them to the responsible team.
• Ensures the prompt and accurate approval of bets according to customer profile.
• Analyses information and prepares reports regarding the profitability and general profiling of customers, including that of “risky” customers.
• Ensures all event and player limits are properly maintained and ensures the correction of any mistakes by providers.
• Investigates information provided by feed providers to ensure back office and retail compliance.
• Provides suggestions and conducts corrective actions for addressing weaknesses and improving risk exposure.
• Coordinates and manages ad hoc projects.
• Manages betting conflicts between the agents and the Company.
• Identifies and fixes issues in online and retail firewalls.
• Monitors VIP customers.
• Collaborates with the Customer Support Team Leader to streamline the collaboration of the two departments.
• Prepares the working schedule for the department.

 

 

Key Skills/Experience: 

• University Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other related fields.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in Risk.
• Fluent in Greek and English, both verbal & written.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular MS Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Attention to detail.
• A willingness to work on rotational shift-patterns.
