POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Fitness Instructor

Division: Hotel
Department: Recreation and Attractions
Reports to: Supervisor, Pools and Fitness
Location: Cyprus

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fitness Instructor delivers a quality customer service experience through conveying a positive, welcoming greeting to guests and visitors to the property designated by the Company in accordance with five star service standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides assistance on gym equipment usage, Fitness Training Programs and Fitness Assessments to spa members, hotel guests and any other guests
  • Ensures a high level of guest relations, service and communication by providing prompt and courteous service, anticipating guest needs and by establishing rapport with guests.
  • Perform personal training for guests and design customized fitness/ wellness program up to guests’ satisfactory results
  • Leads fitness/ wellness classes for members and guests of the property
  • Ensures that guests follow the rules and safety regulations stipulated by the Company and laws
  • Provides turn-around service for Gym facilities in accordance with established procedures and practices
  • Ensures that towels are distributed to guests and includes a good towel inventory
  • Assists guests and visitors with purchases from the Pool & Gym reception counter. This includes adhering to cash handling, bookings, opening and closing policies and procedures and ensuring charges are correctly administered to the guest account
  • Guides guests on the extra curricula activities provided e.g. camps / team building events/ Wellness Day program
  • Maintains the Pool & Fitness reception areas and equipment according to standards ensuring retail products are displayed appropriately and all racks and shelves are neat and orderly. This includes cleaning gym equipment, restocking, tidying, and clearing area of used towels and other waste
  • Updates bulletin boards and magazine stands throughout the resort to ensure they are current, accurate and available at all times
  • Provides a good Gym equipment maintenance ensuring that all equipment are safe to be used and cleanliness are delivered in accordance with company’s health and safety standards and reports any faults
  • Maintains refreshment counter in good condition and makes sure refreshment drinks or fruits are well replenished and organized.
  • Maintains daily spreadsheets of purchases and provides regular summary to the Supervisors while assisting with monthly stock takings
  • Prepares daily guests’ usage report and keeps good record
  • Liaises with other departments throughout hotel when necessary
  • Completes all daily administrative tasks including cleaning rosters and checklists
  • Ensures that confidentiality and/or discretion is maintained at all times regarding guests information and activities.
  • Adheres to all Company policies and procedures
  • Reports accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions and / or security issues to supervisors
  • Performs other reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors from time to time
  • Provides and assist first-aid or pool maintenance if needed


QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • Previous 5-star hotel service or relevant experience is preferred

Education

  • International Fitness Trainer Certification
  • First Aid and CPR Certification is an advantage

Skills / Competencies

  • Has a good knowledge of Gym safety and hygiene standards
  • Competency with Microsoft office suite and software products
  • Knowledge of/interest in the sport, leisure and/or hotel industry would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to work on flexible shift including overnight weekends and holiday on rotation basis
  • Adopts and implements new approaches and practices to meet changing circumstances
  • Displays a high commitment to improving customer service, always strives to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Anticipates and assesses issues, risks or opportunities within the area of responsibility and applies and suggests effective, creative solutions
  • Excellent command of English and Greek
