The Contracting Team of the Quality, Risk, Security (QRS) Department of Deloitte Middle East & Cyprus is seeking to recruit a Legal Counsel, at the level of Manager, based in our Nicosia office.

The Team
The QRS Department is handling matters pertaining to Compliance; Regulatory; Anti-Money Laundering (AML); Ethics; Anti-Corruption; Independence and Risk Management for the entire Deloitte Middle East & Cyprus region. This is a unique opportunity to engage in cross-border collaboration with Deloitte professionals across the Deloitte network, broadening your knowledge and building your competencies and skills.
The Legal Counsel Role
The successful candidate will be supporting the client facing teams within contractual and commercial negotiations, as well as supporting practitioners on engagement risk management. The role will also involve supporting the business on jurisdictional legislation across the Middle East (including Free Zones). This is a unique opportunity to engage in cross-border collaboration with Deloitte professionals across the Deloitte network, broadening your knowledge and building your competencies and skills.
The role’s key responsibilities include the following:

Evaluate ongoing projects for potential legal, reputational, or other risks throughout their lifecycle.

Liaise with relevant leadership, functions, or industries to ensure that legal risk has been identified and recommend actions or safeguards to be implemented.

Provide legal and legal risk management advice on contract management, contracting risk and deal structuring.

Formulate legal opinion and disseminate as communication.

Interpret and provide advice on legal documentation.

Act as a role model, embracing and living our purpose and values, and recognizing others for the impact they make.

Understand key objectives for clients and Deloitte, align people to objectives and set priorities and direction.
Requirements
-
Undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in Law or related fields.

Admitted Attorney/Lawyer/Solicitor/Barrister.

Relevant 10+ years Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).

Excellent organization and time management skills.

Strong computer literacy, particularly with spreadsheets, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. Knowledge of the Arabic and/or Greek language(s) is desirable.

Ability to quickly assess the risk areas and recommend ways of mitigating or managing them.

Focused on identifying solutions within legal parameters (tax specific).

Ability to handle internal and sensitive information with strictest confidentiality.
