We are looking for candidates with excellent academic records in research and teaching to complement the research strengths of the faculty of the department of Information Technology at the Schools of Technology and Innovation, University of Limassol.

Candidates will have demonstrated scientific expertise in any area within Computer Science.

We particularly encourage applications by candidates with expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning, with focus on theory, architectures and foundation models, as well as their applications to real-world problems.

We are primarily interested in candidates who can bring expertise and be able to teach topics like:

• Deep Learning

• Data Mining and Machine Learning

• Symbolic AI

• Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models

• Generative AI

• Explainable AI

• Reinforcement learning

• Federated learning

• Neuro-symbolic AI

Candidates who have no expertise in the above topics but believe they can add value to the Department of Information Technology are also encouraged to apply.

General Description:

The appointed people will be part of the Department of Information Technology, Schools of Technology and Innovation at the University of Limassol. The Department provides and values high-quality research and teaching.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to nurture the new generation of Computer Scientists and Data experts through the new BSc degree in Computing and Business Technologies, to contribute towards our current MSc degrees in Business Analytics and in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, to help on the development of new programs at all levels (BSc, MSc, PhD) as well as to cooperate with the rest of the department’s faculty towards producing high quality research output.

The successful candidate will complement the existing strengths in the department, will build an internationally visible group, will be an engaged teacher in the department’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, and will actively participate in developing a newly established department and University.

Requirements

• A completed university education with a doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field.

• Excellent scientific achievements.

• Excellent didactic and pedagogical skills.

• Management and leadership abilities.

• Excellent command of English

We also value

• International experience and integration in the international research community.

• Experience with acquisition of research grants and/or industrial collaboration.

• Experience with projects in the industry

• We expect the successful candidate to transfer their residence to Cyprus

For an appointment at the Associate/Full Professor (tenured position) level the candidates should demonstrate exceptional international standing with the ability to contribute administratively at the development of the relevant School and Department.
