JOB PURPOSE:

The Host/Hostess will ensure that all reception and telephone operations run smoothly, in the most efficient and effective manner, delivering the highest possible standards of service to all guests (internal and external of the Hotel); the Host/Hostess will also be pro-active in maintaining and/or improving department profitability in accordance with the Hotel policies, procedures and standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implement and train the correct standards following the department concept guidelines and pre-set procedures, monitor and strive for continuous improvement,
  • Ensure that their actions, duties and opening & closing duties, set ups, cleanings and other before, during and after preparations, are completed in accordance with the pre-set procedures,
  • Willingly carry out various tasks given by their superiors before, during and after opening hours,
  • Have a complete understanding of the department operations, the geographical and table layouts and the exact whereabouts of all equipment, provisions and resources,
  • Keep their workstation well organised and neat, report any issues to superiors,
  • Co-ordinate resources to ensure that all possible issues are efficiently resolved,
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and ability in the execution of 'their' appropriate steps of service, all correct standards following the department concept guidelines, their required daily work, the etiquette while dealing with guests and people, all food and drink products, all products and services from other departments, brands, pouring brands, events, specials, limited items as well as ingredients, origins, combinations, methods of preparation, presentation and service,
  • Welcome, greet, recognise, acknowledge and bid farewell to all guests in a welcoming, friendly and professional manner;
  • Provide guests with menus; answer questions; seat guests at tables or in waiting areas; operate table rotation; engage with guests to ensure they are happy with food, drinks and service,
  • Sense, identify and anticipate guest needs; ensure that all requests are correctly and speedily actioned; seek/action/learn from feedback; communicate their liking/disliking following the file of compiled guest preferences; inform superiors should a guest not be content with their experience or if assistance is required to resolve any situations,
  • Confidently communicate and merchandise all products to guests using sales techniques

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Previous Work Experience
  • Fluent in English language. Additional foreign languages will be considered an advantage.
  • Highest standards of honesty, integrity, politeness, discretion, fairness and approach.
  • Pleasant personality, highly self-confident, self-motivated, goal-orientated, competitive, results-driven.
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable.
  • Excellent team player with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • EU passport holder.
