Graduate Fire Engineer | The Role
BB7 is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for talented Graduate Fire Engineers to grow and enhance their skills in the Fire Safety Engineering industry. We will guide you in expanding your understanding of fire design legislation, prescriptive guidelines, and both local and British Standards, enabling you to apply relevant fire safety guidance and codes of practice to fire design projects effectively.
Requirements
A degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Overview
A Graduate Fire Engineer plays a critical role in supporting fire safety and fire protection efforts across various projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, codes, and best practices. This entry-level position provides the opportunity to develop technical and consultancy skills while working on real-world fire engineering challenges.
- Develop knowledge of fire design, prescriptive guidance/legislation and implementation throughout the project life cycle.
- Develop knowledge of fire engineering principles and techniques
- Develop an appreciation of fire assurance and fire risk management
- Drafting fire strategies and engineering technical reports for different sectors
- Supporting the team working on technical problems & projects
- Developing an understanding of project management as well as BB7 processes & procedures
- Developing professional conduct when dealing with internal and external personnel
Career Path
This role serves as the foundation for a career in fire safety engineering, offering opportunities to progress to roles such as Fire Engineer, Senior Fire Engineer, or Fire Safety Consultant. It also provides a pathway to achieving professional recognition, such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Summary or Project Roles
PD: A Project Director oversees projects, providing strategic direction and ensuring alignment with BB7's goals and clients' expectations. They are responsible for high-level decision-making, technical output, invoice approvals, controlling high-quality delivery throughout, and maintaining client relationships. The PD would set out the project team outside of a project.
PM: A Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They act as the primary point of contact between the client and the project team, facilitating communication and coordination and delegating day-to-day work within the team. The PM would raise invoices, and the PD would approve them. The PM would be responsible for updating the PD regularly on progress and discussing any potential technical, client relationship or performance issues with the project.
PE: A Project Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant supports the technical aspects of project execution, ensuring project tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. They proactively support the PM in communicating effectively and regularly with the design team and the PM/PD.
