In Cyprus, IOM Seat Agreement was ratified in Parliament in 2014 and in 2015 IOM inaugurated a fully functional office in the country. Complementing Government of the Republic of Cyprus policies, the IOM’s Cyprus Office runs targeted programmes on capacity building for children, on a voluntary solidarity mechanism and on assisted voluntary return and reintegration.

IOM in close cooperation with the Government of Cyprus will provide support on matters concerning the Humanitarian Response of the organization and will mainly focus on the construction/upgrading works expected to be conducted by IOM at the First Reception Center in Pournara. The activity will be funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Commission.
In this framework, the successful candidate will be responsible to effectively implement all appropriate responsibilities, according to the IOM standards, and ensuring quality, cost effectiveness, transparency, and compliance with all IOM rules and regulations.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office of IOM Cyprus and direct supervision of the National Project Officer, and in close cooperation with the Project Coordinator of IOM Greece the successful candidate will be responsible supporting site care and maintenance activities in Pournara First Reception Center and in particular in the Buffer Zone within Pournara First Reception Camp during the restorations of the main site.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Perform, in coordination with national authorities, minor fixes within the Buffer Zone in Pournara
FRC such hydraulics, electrical and / carpenters works.
2. Perform regular checks in the control panels and electrical wiring and be able to identify any
potential damages; Report any damage identified to line manager(s).
3. Repair any damages in relation to hydraulics in the buffer zone.
4. Repair any minor damages in the office’s/ Buffer zone area plasterboard/panel surfaces, and/or
walls.
5. Have knowledge and be able to install appliances and equipment.
6. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, change of door locks, furniture etc. in coordination with national authorities
7. Check and identify potential troubleshooting to equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
8. Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
9. Collaborate with external workers and other professionals during renovations.
10. Report to the field team and the line managers/ designated engineers any issues that he/she may
identify.
11. Maintaining of daily repair logbook and maintenance supply stock logbook
12. Perform safety audits along with IOM field team and report any danger (e.g. protection issues,
safety issues and dangers) to the national authorities.
13. Provide technical specifications and quantities needed for equipment, spare parts and/or consumables identified as necessary for daily repairs, as necessary input for preparation of orders for maintenance stock.
14. Perform other related duties that may be assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
• High school degree/ certificate with two years of relevant work experience; or
• Degree from a technical school/ college as a Plumber, Electrician or a related field from an
accredited academic institution.
Experience and Skills
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in a similar role;
• Previous related experience and solid technical knowledge in plumbing or electrical systems;
• Knowledge of general repair works is an advantage;
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage;
• Basic knowledge of standard software applications (MS Office) is an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in Greek (written and oral) is required. Fluency in English language an advantage.
