CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a long-established and highly regarded Public Listed company with expanding operations in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit an In-House Legal Counsel & DPO to join their growing team based in Nicosia. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for providing expert legal advice and opinion in the areas of Corporate, Commercial, Contract and/or Employment Law for the company, as well as identifying, monitoring and evaluating the company’s data processing activities. You should be educated to degree level in Law, be a Cyprus Qualified Lawyer and possess approximately 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including in-depth experience with personal data related matters. Fluency in both verbal and written Greek & English is essential.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert legal advice and opinion in the areas of Corporate, Commercial, Contract and/or Employment Law for the company.
  • Drafting and reviewing a wide range of legal agreements and contracts.
  • Identifying, monitoring and evaluating the company’s data processing activities.
  • Conducting and handling Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Monitoring data management procedures and compliance within the company.
  • Arrange for training on GDPR compliance for employees.
  • Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • LLB (Hons)
  • Cyprus Qualified Lawyer.
  • Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience gained working for a Top-Tier Law Firm or working in a relevant In-House position.
  • In-depth experience with personal data matters.
  • In-depth experience in commercial law and/or contract law and/or employment law matters.
  • Previous experience as a DPO will be considered an advantage.
  • Civil litigation experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with high attention to detail.
  • Fluent command of English and Greek, verbal and written.
  • Complete digital literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
