We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Chief Engineer who will be reporting to the Head of Operations. More specifically, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for ensuring effectively the preventive and corrective maintenance of all systems and equipment within the vicinity of the hotel in order all guests to enjoy an exceptional and uninterrupted experience, as well as creating and maintaining a highly productive, engaged, and satisfied team.
Main responsibilities:
Develop policies, procedures and plans to ensure the effective and cost-efficient operation and maintenance of all electromechanical and IT systems and equipment within the vicinity of the hotel and monitor their effective implementation through key performance indicators
Develop the departmental budgets and ensure that the systems and equipment operate within the approved budgets
Prepare reports and when needed suggest amendments to increase profitability
Work closely with the Finance department to ensure sufficient supplies of spare parts
Ensure that all systems and equipment are installed and proactively maintained in line with the suppliers’ manuals, guidelines and relevant legislations
Plan and ensure the implementation of the preventive maintenance
Conduct daily/weekly audits to ensure high quality maintenance and repairs as per the hotel’s standards
Monitor the energy consumption and when possible, make the necessary actions to decrease the consumption levels
Ensure that the water and air quality are in line with the hotel’s standards and legal requirements
Manage waste and introduce initiatives to minimize further the levels of waste
Ensure that all existing and potential hazards are identified and corrected
Have a proactive approach to anticipate guests’ needs, improve guests’ satisfaction levels, and when necessary, introduce new initiatives and programs to improve the satisfaction levels
Ensure that the guests’ complaints are handled properly and on time and make the necessary actions to reverse an unpleasant experience
Create and maintain a friendly, inclusive, and supportive working environment
Manage, inspire, mentor, and develop the Maintenance team
Provide constructive feedback to employees and enable them to achieve their full potential
Prepare employees’ rosters
The ideal professional shall have the following qualifications, experiences, and skills:
Diploma or University degree in Engineering or any other related field
Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar role
ETEK membership will be considered an advantage
Excellent knowledge of Greek & English languages
Computer Literate
Excellent management skills with hands-on approach
Strong decision making & problem-solving capabilities
Analytical skills
Guest-oriented mindset
Pleasant and integer personality
Flexibility and adaptability
Self-motivation
