THE COMPANY
On behalf of our client, a leading management company licensed and regulated by CySEC, managing mutual funds and providing MiFID services for investment portfolios on a discretionary and advisory basis, we seek to recruit a self-motivated and high calibre professional for the position of Senior Financial Accountant, to be based in Nicosia.
THE POSITION
The successful candidate will directly report and support the Head of the Accounting Department of the Company. More specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the below duties, among others:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, management accounts, cash flow reports and other financial reports, to ensure compliance with statutory, legal and regulatory requirements
- Prepare budgets and financial projections and ensure that these are met and where necessary, take proactive actions
- Review and execute payroll in a timely and accurate manner, including social insurance deductions
- Review invoices issued to clients and received from suppliers and associates to ensure accuracy
- Monitor the reconciliation of creditors and debtors and related bank statements
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with professional standards, applicable laws and regulations and company policies
- Monitor and evaluate the Company’s financial position and provide sound financial advice so as to support decision making
- Prepare the VAT returns and Corporate Income Tax return to ensure adherence to tax obligations in compliance with the local legislation
- Review, on a daily basis, the recognition and receipt of the revenue for all funds under management
- Review the transactions of all funds under management
- Review the calculated Net Asset Value (NAV) of the funds under management
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions and supervise the monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures
- Coordinate the annual external audit procedure
- Review, establish, implement and maintain effective accounting procedures as well as internal controls
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures, professional standards and applicable laws and regulations
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and accounting team and provide guidance and support, as needed, to ensure maximum performance
- Liaise with various departments, as needed, discussing various company plans and activities
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with external key stakeholders (i.e. external advisors, local authorities, banks etc.) in an effort to establish and develop strategic long-term relationships and achieve effective collaborations
- Perform any other accounting duties as assigned by the Head of the Accounting Department and Senior Management Team
REQUIREMENTS
- Professional qualification ACA / ACCA with at least two (2) years of post-qualification experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or in a related field
- At least three (3) years of proven experience in a similar position and/or duties
- Strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Analytical thinking and strong attention to detail
- Ability to lead a small group of subordinates
- Results orientation with strong business acumen
- Organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Excellent knowledge of English and Greek languages, both verbal and written
- Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office Packages) with Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with a computerized accounting software will be considered as an advantage
