Pastry Chef


Minthis Resort is looking to recruit high-calibre and experienced Pastry Chef. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the pastry section of the kitchen and for crafting quality pastry dishes in line with the standard recipes and presentations, designing seasonal menus, and developing new recipes while working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef.

Job Responsibilities:

• Adheres to all standard procedures and policies pertaining to pastry preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation and a full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, methods of production, plate specifications and consistency of presentation.
• Prepares ingredients and handles baking and other kitchen equipment.
• Creates pastries, baked goods, and confections, by following a set recipe.
• Develops new recipes for seasonal menus.
• Decorates pastries and desserts to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation.
• Monitors the stock of baking ingredients.
• Orders new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section, when needed, and within budget.
• Ensures pastry section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.
• Makes suggestions to the Head Chef concerning improvements which would lead to make more satisfied customers and/or increase volume of business or profit.
• Consults daily with Sous Chef and Head Chef on the daily requirements, functions and also about any last-minute events.
• Makes adjustments to accommodate guests with allergies, food intolerances and other dietary requirements.
• Recycles where-ever possible and enforces cost saving measures where appropriate.
• Complies daily with the hygiene, sanitation, HACCP and other applicable local rules and regulations throughout the pastry section of the kitchen.
• Ensures the environmentally friendly disposal and recycling of garbage is carried out in a proper manner and dispose of, under the guidelines set by management.
• Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as requested by the Management.

Qualification/Skills:

• High school diploma.
• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field.
• 2 or more years’ experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role.
• Good command of the English language (verbal & written).
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.).
• Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes and other desserts.
• Keen attention to detail.

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate including basic salary, 13th salary, Provident Fund, Full year employment, Overtime Payment, and Public Holidays payment 1-1:5.
