CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a progressive and expanding CySEC regulated investment firm with offices in Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Accountant to join their growing team. Working closely and reporting to the Group CFO and to the Board of Directors, the successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the preparation of the company’s internal accounting records, as well as managing a group of local accountants and liaising with overseas Finance teams. You will ideally hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another related field, and will need to be a full member of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA) with approximately 5 years of post-qualification experience. Proven experience as a Chief Accountant, Finance Controller, or similar role in a relevant industry sector is a must, along with comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations. Prior experience working in the FX, Fintech and/or Financial Services sectors is highly desirable. Our client offers a highly attractive remuneration package, based on skills and experience.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Working closely and reporting to Group CFO and to the Board of Directors.
- Working closely with Internal and external auditors.
- Managing a group of local accountants and liaising with overseas Finance teams.
- Direct communication with other teams in the office (banking, dealing, revenue, back office etc).
- Preparing month-end reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements by company in the group and consolidated.
- Weekly liquidity reporting for the Group.
- VAT reporting.
- Reviewing the company's financial statements to ensure they are accurate.
- Recommending changes in policies or procedures that will improve financial performance.
- Forecasting future financial performance.
- Preparing and analysing budget variance.
- Providing accurate financial reports to management with analytical explanations of movements.
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, recommending improvements to enhance financial operations.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- ACA / ACCA qualification with approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience as Chief Accountant, Finance Controller, or similar role.
- Previous experience working in the FX, Fintech and/or Financial Services sectors is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working in a regulated environment will be considered a plus.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Prior experience working with SAP is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, conscientious, and highly organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
