Magnum Grail is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Frontend Development Lead to join our innovative team. This pivotal role combines the responsibilities of a Lead Developer and a Systems Analyst, acting as the critical link between business analysis and technical front-end development. As Frontend Development Lead, you will lead our Agile Fusion Unit, managing a small team of two developers specialising in HTML, CSS and React, while also working closely with business analysts to translate epics and user stories into actionable tasks for the development team. Your dual role as lead developer and systems analyst will be essential in managing and prioritising the backlog to ensure high quality deliverables that align with business objectives. We are looking for a candidate who can start in September 2024, working full-time in our office with a flexible schedule, offering a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in a dynamic, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small Agile Fusion unit focused on front-end development, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Act as a key liaison between the business analysis department and the front-end development team, ensuring seamless communication and understanding.
• Work closely with business analysts to thoroughly understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and actionable tasks for the team.
• Prepare and prioritise tasks based on epics and user stories, ensuring the development backlog is well-managed and aligned with project goals.
• Oversee the development of web applications, writing and reviewing code, optimising UI performance and managing API integrations while actively contributing to the codebase.
• Serve as a Scrum Master, planning sprints, facilitating daily stand-ups and ensuring the team meets project milestones.
• Work with the Architect and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment processes.
• Perform software testing, identify and resolve defects, and support continuous improvement of the development process.
• Develop training materials, assist with project documentation, and provide ongoing user support and troubleshooting post-deployment.
• Ensure the team adheres to industry best practices and maintains the highest standards of code quality while continuously driving innovation and excellence in front-end development.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks, including React
• Practical knowledge of code writing and API integrations
• Extensive experience with RESTful APIs and familiarity with GraphQL
• Solid understanding of front-end architecture and best practices
• Proven experience in taking web applications to production and managing the deployment process
• Knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence (intermediate to advanced level) and ability to prepare workflows in Jira
• Ability to write tasks for developers, demonstrating strong English proficiency and the ability to write clear, concise tasks
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work in an agile development environment
• Knowledge of best practices in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible)
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with performance tuning and optimisation techniques
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices
• Experience with pair programming
• Experience with user experience (UX) design principles and practices
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to apply mathematical concepts to solve complex problems
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with database management, particularly with PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git (intermediate to advanced level)

Required Qualifications

• Highly experienced, 10+ years preferred
• Proven experience in getting web applications into production and managing the deployment process
• Ability to work in an agile development environment
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field preferred
• English proficiency at C1 level, with certification such as IELTS or equivalent (even if expired)

• Experience in working with Fusion Teams or similar small, agile team setups
• Proficiency in additional programming languages (e.g., Python)
• Knowledge of advanced database technologies (e.g., NoSQL)
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools
• Ability to mentor and train junior developers
