CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a leading Private School in Limassol, we are seeking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to join their team. As a Learning Support Assistant you will provide support to teachers and assist children in reaching their full educational potential. The Learning Support Assistant works closely with individual students, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), to help them engage fully in the curriculum and make progress in their learning. You will ideally hold an educational background in a relevant field (Education, SEND etc…), and will need to possess proven experience working in a classroom or with children in a similar capacity, with an understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and how to support students effectively. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude are key, as well as fluency in verbal and written English.

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Work under the direction and guidance of the Head Teacher, SENCo and class teacher.
  • Assist in the implementation of the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and help to monitor their progress.
  • Provide support for the individual student inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  • Work with the individual student under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Work with other professionals, such as outside agencies (eg. Speech and Language therapists).
  • Assist the class teacher with maintaining pupil records.
  • Support the aims and ethos of the school in providing a quality education, encouraging the student to become independent learners who are able to achieve their potential.
  • Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • Assist the student on arrival and departure from school.
  • Supervise the student between lessons
  • Supervise the student during break/lunchtimes at playtimes

 

Key Skills/Experience:

 

  • A degree in Education and/or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a classroom or with children in a similar capacity.
  • Understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and how to support students effectively.
  • Knowledge of specific SEN conditions (e.g., ADHD, autism) and strategies to support them is highly desirable.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • First aid training or safeguarding certifications are desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are a must.
