The University of Limassol (UoL) is a progression of the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM), which was a renowned business school operating in Cyprus since 1990. We are now recruiting a high calibre individual to join its dynamic workforce in the position of Distance Learning Unit Administrative Support.

Position Summary:

Care to join a developing department in a vibrant academic organization? The University of Limassol, a recently established university in Cyprus (former CIIM ), is looking to expand its Distance learning Unit, aiming to provide quality distance learning to various audiences, through a variety of courses. The DL Unit Administrative Support role is responsible for providing administrative assistance and support to the Distance Learning Unit within an educational institution or organization. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of distance learning programs and initiatives, as well as supporting students and faculty on their learning courses. The position requires close collaboration with the Instructional Designers of the DL Unit, the academic and administrative staff, as well as the computer support team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administrative Assistance:

  • Assist in the coordination and organization of distance learning activities, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing documentation.

  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff regarding distance learning programs, courses, and resources.

  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to distance learning activities, including student enrolment, course materials, and instructor information.

  • Provide support in the delivery of staff training sessions through materials preparation.

  • Prioritize messages from UoL staff and students regarding DL courses and ensure that they are answered promptly.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation related to distance learning activities, including student enrolment trends, course evaluations.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and guidelines governing distance learning programs and services.

  • Help the DLU team in the coordination of online courses and their availability

2. Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to students, faculty, and staff participating in distance learning programs, including troubleshooting issues related to online platforms, video conferencing software, and learning management systems.

  • Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve technical issues and ensure the efficient operation of distance learning technologies.

  • Ensure content is up-to-date on the University’s Moodle platform (LMS)

3. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with distance learning instructors, course coordinators, and administrative staff to coordinate course schedules, assignments, and assessments.

  • Facilitate communication between distance learning students, providing updates, announcements, and reminders as needed.

  • Collaborate with other administrative departments and academic units to support the integration of distance learning initiatives with overall institutional goals and objectives.

4. Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in the evaluation and assessment of distance learning programs, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.

  • Participate in the process of continuously improving eLearning courses

  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in distance learning technologies, pedagogies, and methodologies.

Required qualifications

  1. University degree in ICT, educational technology, multimedia, instructional design, Game Design or other relevant field. Master’s degree will be an advantage

  2. At least 2 years of relevant experience in the field of distance learning, instructional design, or relevant field, preferably in higher education (University experience will count depending on the portfolio of projects)

  3. Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design principles and eLearning technologies (knowledge of AI tools will be considered and advantage).

  4. Excellent verbal and communication skills

  5. Excellent organizational skills and competencies (e.g. problem-solving, human centric, attention to understanding the faculty or student needs, teamwork, etc.)

  6. Proficiency in the use of core software (e.g. MS Office, Moodle, etc.)

  7. Fluent in English and Greek

Work requirements:

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate should be able to work on-site and remotely and visit the Nicosia and Limassol premises when necessary.
