The Academic Affairs Director at the University of Limassol plays a key role in providing strategic leadership and direction for all academic programs and initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of academic policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of excellence in teaching, learning, and research. The Academic Affairs Director collaborates closely with faculty, department chairs, deans, and other stakeholders to promote academic innovation, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance the overall academic experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to advance the academic mission and goals of the university.

  2. Curriculum Development: Lead efforts to design, review, and revise academic programs and curricula to meet evolving educational needs and industry trends.

  3. Faculty Development: Support faculty professional development initiatives, including mentoring, training, and recognition programs to enhance teaching effectiveness and scholarship.

  4. Assessment and Accreditation: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and oversee assessment processes to measure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.

  5. Academic Policies: Develop and enforce academic policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and regulations.

  6. Student Success: Implement initiatives to support student success, retention, and graduation, including academic advising, tutoring services, and academic support programs.

  7. Research and Innovation: Promote research and scholarly activities among faculty and students, fostering a culture of innovation and inquiry across academic disciplines.

  8. Budget Management: Manage the academic affairs budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure fiscal responsibility in accordance with university policies and priorities.

  9. Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and communication among academic departments, administrative units, and external partners to enhance interdisciplinary initiatives and partnerships.

  10. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with the Ministry of Education, and accrediting agency regulations, and prepare reports and documentation as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field required; Doctorate preferred.

  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic administration, preferably in a higher education setting.

  3. Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of successful strategic planning and implementation.

  4. Strong understanding of academic program development, assessment, and accreditation processes.

  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.

  6. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

  7. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education, including online learning, experiential education, and student-centered pedagogy.

  8. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic programs and initiatives.
