Job Position: Mechatronics Engineer

Reports To: Department Manager

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team with a passion and talent to work on exciting electronics and mechatronics automation projects. Projects will range from integration and proof-of-concepts to advanced European research and innovation projects in fields such as Water and Food Quality Monitoring, Smart Agriculture and Sensors.

CyRIC’s Electronics and Networks (ECN) Department currently coordinates and participates in several HORIZON/H2020 and RIF projects (GRACED, CODE-REFARM, BROMEDIR, ENVIROMED, URBANE, SynAir-G, WARP). Responsibilities and Duties

As a Mechatronics Engineer in our team, you will be expected to:

• Design and develop functional prototypes for projects involving electronics and electromechanical or industrial automation components.
• Participate in technology projects involving technical implementation & report writing.
• Travel and work together with project partners across Cyprus and Europe towards the efficient implementation of R&D projects and pilots.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• MSc/Meng/Dipl-Ing in Mechatronics/ Electronics/ /Electrical or closely related Engineering/Science fields
• Experience with electronics laboratory equipment and electronic modules/boards
• Experience with electronic prototyping (Arduino, Raspberry Pi or similar) & programming languages (Python, C, C++)
• Familiarity with robotic or electromechanical systems, e.g. hydraulics/microfluidics systems, industrial robotics, 3D printers, CNC.
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical prototyping using, e.g. motors, motors’ drivers, valves, pumps, flowmeters, XYZ tables.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in English
• Team player and problem-solver

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous

• Relevant working experience at an industrial or R&D/academic environment
• Experience in participation in EU and/or RIF funded projects and deliverables
• Industrial automation and control systems/protocols
• Prototyping systems with wireless communication (BT, Wi-Fi, LoRa), e.g. ESP32, nRF52x, XIAO
• 3D designing & printing
• NI equipment and LabVIEW
