CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an international mining exploration company with offices in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. Reporting to the Financial Controller and indirectly to the Group Financial Controller, the successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting financial operations. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, or related field, who possess a minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, with any specific experience gained working in the mining or natural resources sectors considered an additional advantage. Holders of, or those working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA) are encouraged to apply, and sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are a must. An attractive remuneration package is on offer, based on skills and experience. 

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company's operations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare financial statements and reports for Management review.
• Support budget preparation and financial forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations in Cyprus.
• Assist with the consolidation of financial data from other regional offices.
• Participate in internal and external audit processes.
• Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining financial controls.
• Support payroll processing as needed.
• Prepare VAT and other tax returns as required.

 

Key Skills/Experience: 

 

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar.
• Holders of, or those working towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, are welcome to apply.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector.
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems preferably MS Dynamics.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
• Understanding of multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange implications.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Experience with mining industry accounting practices is a plus.
• Integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
